Ru-Ann’s Creations Nail & Lash Artistry are all about enhancing your natural beauty with healthy nails and correct nail care – Russian pedicures & manicures, individual eyelash extensions, volume lashes, Russian Volume Lashes and nail & fungus treatments and so much more.
Ru-Ann has dedicated her life since the age of 14 years; to Nail and Lash Artistry. She obtained her first certification in 2006 from Melody Smit, Planet Nails as Nail Technician. A trail of ensuing certificates lead her to her becoming an Educator in 2012. With the arrival of QD Queen Diamond Nails in SA in 2016, Ru-Ann opened QD Diamond Nail Shops in Centurion and Kempton Park. She completed her Russian Nail e-file, nail modelling Russian style, Animal Planet Nails, 3D Nails, Princess and 3D flower Nails training under Elena Lakutina over the next year to 2018.
Russian Manicure
This technique is originally from Russia. Sometimes known as a “Dry Manicure” or “e-file” manicure.
Step 1: Removal of all cuticles that are dry and overgrown onto the nail plate at the back wall against the laluna wall of the nail. The white shadow on the nail plate is also a part of the cuticle and is at times the main cause of nail-lifting. In most cases, a very sharp burr is used to remove the excess cuticle. I prefer using a ceramic burr. If the cuticle is not over-grown you do not touch it.
Step 2: The natural nail gets filed – prepped with another non-evasive burr. This is to remove the oily surface for the product to adhere successfully.
Step 3: The hand, fingers and nails are cleaned of all nail dust/particles.
❖ Before any nail service is provided; a full Russian Manicure is done. To ensure a clean and purified canvas to work on to ensure the best possible outcome for each set. A clean cuticle line is a prerequisite for any decent manicure
Artificial Nail Systems
1. Acrylic
Acrylic is the no 1 chosen system in our studio as this system is almost impossible to disappoint. Acrylic is extremely hardy and long-lasting.
Acrylic is used for Sculpturing. A sculpture form is placed under the free-edge, and the natural nails are extended to the desired length. Sculpturing can also be use to fix a broken nail to match the rest of the nails.
“Sculpturing is my favourite technique to use when my client needs their nail to be reconstructed or to help a nail biter have the correct form & shape at the nail.”
2. Overlay
With an overlay, an acrylic overlay is placed on the already long enough natural nail.
3. Gel
Gel can be used to sculpture or to do overlays.
Gel is a very soft product compared to acrylic and has various systems that can be applied to create different outcomes for specific needs. There are various types of gel products and each is used for different uses: Builders gel, Gel Polish, Acrigel, Fiber Gel, Vitamin Base Gel and Rubber Base Gel.
